Earthing Requirements

Earthing Standards by the Indian Electrical Board:-
Earthing Resistance should be 1 ohm or less.
Earthing to neutral should be 2 volts or less.

The salt percolates realesing water and the coal absorbs water keeping the soil moist.
The pit soil should be wet in order to reduce earth resistance to pass the leakage current easily.
If the soil is dry resistance increases causing to block the leakage current.
Pure Water is a poor conductor of electricity.
Soil should not be rocky or gravel while making a earthing.
Sometimes soil looks good from the surface but is rocky from the inside.

To find soil resistance :-
Formula = 2 π L R.
R = value of Earth Resistance in Ohm.
Distance between measuring spikes in cm.
π = 3.14
P = Earth Resistivity Ohm = Cm.
